Company History – West Coast Electrical & Lighting Services was founded in 1988 in Fort Myers, Florida by Bernie Murphy, who today still owns and operates the company. Originally called “West Coast Fire Equipment,” Bernie and his team focused on providing fire alarms and extinguishers to businesses and residential communities, but soon expanded to emergency lighting and then all types of commercial lighting.

New Lighting — We design, build, install and service lighting for building exteriors and common areas.
Emergency Services — We offer emergency services 24/7, 365 days a year. Call us any day, any time. You will always get a human, not voicemail. Our service technicians will be dispatched to your location immediately.
Troubleshooting & More – We excel at diagnosing electrical problems and performing repairs. We also do wiring, install equipment, provide on-going maintenance, and develop plans for energy-efficient retrofits.
Fire Alarm Checks – We’re certified to conduct the annual fire alarm inspections and repairs required by law.
Unique Abilities – Our experience with electrical work extends to highly technical projects. For example, we can install the complex electrical wiring system needed for CAT scan machines in hospitals. We also do industrial work such as motor and control wiring, NOVAR energy management controls, and installation and service for variable frequency drives (VFDs). No matter how specialized or challenging your electrical needs, we are capable of doing the work.
National Accounts – We offer electrical and fire alarm services for national account maintenance firms that provide services for major chain stores and retailers across the U.S.

Maintenance Contracts – Choose a monthly, quarterly or annual maintenance contract. We’ll inspect all lighting and electrical systems, perform routine maintenance and make repairs as needed.
Energy Audits – Energy efficiency is always a part of the equation when we select, install and service lighting. We also do energy audits. We’ll even show you the savings for any options we recommend.
Wholesale Pricing on Electrical Products – Because of our long-term relationships with lighting manufacturers as well as the volume we do, we can offer many products at wholesale prices including: light fixtures, bulbs, ballasts and electrical replacement parts.

Employees – Our technicians arrive on schedule and complete work in a timely manner. Most have been with the company for more than five years; all have been background checked. They are courteous and respectful of your property, always cleaning the jobsite before they leave.
Training – Our technicians are experienced commercial service electricians. We’ve trained them in our methods of troubleshooting and repairs, ensuring consistent high standards in our workmanship. Additionally, they receive continuous training in electrical installations, products, code requirements and safety.
Vehicles – Our trucks are fully stocked with hundreds of parts, allowing our technicians to complete most repair jobs in one visit.
Inventory – Our warehouse is stocked with over 16,000 items to ensure we have the product or part you need on hand. We use only quality parts proven to function well and last.
Specialty Equipment – Our two aerial lifts enable us to do work 61 feet in the air. We also have Dynatel underground locaters and fault locaters as well as Meggers for testing wire insulation deterioration. Our staff is well trained in how to effectively use this equipment.
Safety – We are proud of our exceptional safety record. We’ve had no serious injuries in our company’s history, which dates back to 1988. Our employees know we insist they “work safe,” and our training includes best practices for safety.
Insurance – West Coast Lighting is fully insured, and licensed. Our employees all have workman’s comp coverage.
